I often visualised an enchanting land where the cool breeze would touch my soul and the
rhythm of water running down would play a symphony playing in my ears.
Have you ever travelled to such a place? A place with legends about Lord Shiva, the Cosmic Lord and his wife, Goddess Parvati.
In the summer of 2018 i was travelling in a bus from Delhi to Uttarakhand. I took the first stop
at Lohajung where I met a group of enthusiastic mountaineers planning to trek a journey to
the mystic land of Roopkund. This 60km, 7-day long journey from Lohajung had to be
covered by foot. We loaded ourselves with all the essentials and geared up for the walk.
As we walked towards village Didna, our guide started narrating some beautiful stories. He
said “At a time when lands knew no boundaries, the cosmic lord, Shiva, had incarnated to
impart his wisdom to the humankind. Walking through the Himalayas, Lord Shiva along with
his wife made Mt. Kailash their abode.” An intense journey ensued and we were close to the  Indo-Tibetian border when our guide turned and narrated the story of how the clear waters of "Rupkund" came to exist.
Finally a point came where we couldn’t go any further and we soon, descended to a Village named ‘Wan’. After staying for days in the extreme terrain and harsh weather conditions, it was relaxing to find a cozy place. 
The seven-day long trek ended here with beautiful landscapes vivid in my eyes and carved
some memories in my heart that would stay forever.
